Victoria is a small place in Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana, in the United States. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a city or town with its own local government.
Victoria's History
Victoria started as a small town built around a sawmill. A sawmill is a factory where logs are cut into lumber. This town began around 1882.
The Lumber Company Era
In 1898, a big company called the Louisiana Longleaf Lumber Company bought the sawmill in Victoria. This company also owned a sawmill in a place called Fisher, Louisiana. When the company took over, Victoria grew a lot! Its population reached about 1,500 people.
However, the sawmill stopped operating in 1936. This is sometimes called a "cut-out," meaning they had cut down most of the trees in the area that they needed for lumber.
Later Years
Many years later, in 1966, another company named Boise Cascade bought the old mill site.
