Victoria, Missouri facts for kids
Victoria is a small, unincorporated community located in Jefferson County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's governed by the county.
Victoria's History
Victoria was first planned out in 1859. This means someone officially laid out the streets and plots of land for the community. For a while, it was also known as "Victoria Station." A post office, which is where people send and receive mail, opened here in 1863. It was first called "Victoria Station" Post Office. Later, in 1885, its name was changed to simply "Victoria." The post office served the community for many years until it finally closed down in 1955.
