Discovering a Love for Writing
Victoria Clayton started writing stories at her parents' home in Cambridgeshire, England. Before that, she lived in London for a few years.
One evening in London, she met Bill McCreadle from a publishing company called Rupert Hart-Davis. He liked her story and decided to publish it. In 1969, when she was only 21, her first book, The Winter of Enchantment, came out. A second book, The House Called Hadlows, followed in 1972.

Victoria Clayton's children's books tell the adventures of a boy named Sebastian.
- In The Winter of Enchantment, Sebastian finds a magic mirror that takes him to another world. There, he meets a girl named Melissa. She is held captive by an evil Enchanter, and Sebastian decides to rescue her.

Life After Early Books
After her first books were published, Victoria Clayton lived in rural Wales and on the Isle of Skye for four years. Later, she went to the University of Cambridge to study English literature.
After finishing university, she got married. She spent many years living in the countryside and raising her children.

In 1997, Victoria Clayton began writing books again. This time, she wrote novels for adults. Her first adult book was Out of Love.
