Villa de San Antonio is a lively municipality in the Comayagua region of Honduras. It's a special kind of local government area, like a town or city, but it also includes many smaller villages around it.

This area is home to about 17,000 people. The main town, called the casco urbano, has around 7,000 residents. The rest of the people live in the many 'aldeas', or villages, that are part of the municipality.

Villa de San Antonio is located in the beautiful country of Honduras. It's quite easy to get to from other important places. You can drive there in about 20 minutes from the cities of Comayagua and La Paz. If you're coming from Tegucigalpa, the capital city of Honduras, it's about a 90-minute drive.

What do people do for a living?

The people of Villa de San Antonio are very hardworking! Many of them are involved in farming, growing food and crops. Others work in factories, helping to make different products. Construction is also a big part of the local economy, with people building new homes and other structures.

Learning and growing

Education is important in Villa de San Antonio. The main town has schools for all ages. There are two kindergartens for the youngest children, and two elementary schools where kids learn their basic subjects.

For older students, there's one middle-high school. Here, students can choose to study for different diplomas. They can get a 'bachillerato' diploma, which is like a general high school diploma focused on liberal arts. Or, they can study 'comercio', which teaches them skills for business and trade.

The town is also home to two special places called orphanages. These are homes for children who need care and support. One is called Hogar Tierra Santa, which is an independent orphanage. The other is Hogar San Antonio, which works with a Catholic charity called Apufran.

There's also a health center in the town. It's staffed by a doctor and two nurses who help keep everyone in the community healthy.

Villa de San Antonio has a long and interesting history! It was founded way back in 1537. That's the same year that the nearby city of Comayagua was also established. Imagine all the history that has happened there since then!
