Village is a small community located in Columbia County, Arkansas. It is known as an unincorporated village, which means it is a community that does not have its own local government, like a city or town does.
History of Village
Village has an interesting past. A post office was opened there in 1888. A post office is a place where people can send and receive mail. This post office served the community for a long time, finally closing its doors in 2002.
For a while, Village was also known by another name: "Machine". No one is quite sure why it was called "Machine".
Education for Students
Students living in Village attend public schools that are managed by the Magnolia School District.
Before 1986, Village had its own school district, called the Village School District. On July 1, 1986, the Village School District joined with the Magnolia School District. This change meant that students from Village would then attend schools run by Magnolia.
