Village St. George is a special kind of community called a census-designated place (CDP) in East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, United States. This means it's an area that looks like a town but isn't officially a city. In 2010, about 7,104 people lived there. It is part of the larger Baton Rouge area.

Geography of Village St. George

Village St. George is located in the southern part of East Baton Rouge Parish. To its west, across Siegen Lane, is a place called Oak Hills Place. Downtown Baton Rouge is about 10 miles (16 km) to the northwest.

According to the United States Census Bureau, Village St. George covers a total area of about 2.2 square miles (5.8 square kilometers). All of this area is land.

People and Population

In 2000, there were 6,993 people living in Village St. George. These people lived in 2,570 households, and 1,888 of these were families. The area had about 3,150 people per square mile (1,216 per square kilometer).

Most of the people in Village St. George were White (71.37%), with a significant number of African American residents (23.68%). There were also smaller groups of Asian, Native American, and other races. About 3.32% of the population was Hispanic or Latino.

Many households (42.1%) had children under 18 living with them. More than half (56.1%) were married couples. The average household had 2.72 people, and the average family had 3.20 people.

Education in Village St. George

Most children in the community go to Wildwood Elementary School. Some parts of northern Village St. George are zoned for Jefferson Terrace Elementary in Inniswold, and a small area to the northwest goes to Westminster Elementary School in Westminster.

For middle school, most of the area is served by Kenilworth Middle School. A section in the north goes to Woodlawn Middle School. As of 2016, Kenilworth Middle School was managed by the Recovery School District of Louisiana. Students in the Kenilworth zone could also choose to attend Woodlawn Middle School, which is directly controlled by the East Baton Rouge Parish Schools.

All residents of Village St. George attend Woodlawn High School in Old Jefferson for their high school education.
