Virginia Hinckley Pearce was born on February 8, 1945. She is a well-known author. She also served in an important leadership role for young women. From 1992 to 1997, she was part of the Young Women General Presidency. This is a group that helps guide young women in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Virginia is also the daughter of Gordon B. Hinckley. He was the 15th president of the Church.
Her Service in the Church
Virginia Hinckley Pearce was chosen for her role in the Young Women organization in April 1992. This happened during a big meeting called the general conference. She became the first counselor to the Young Women general president, Janette C. Hales. A counselor helps the president with their duties.
She served in this position for five years. Her service ended in 1997. At that time, Janette Hales was released from her role. Margaret D. Nadauld then became the new president.
Family Life and Books
In 1965, Virginia married James R. M. Pearce. They had six children together. James passed away in 2009.
Virginia is also a talented writer. She has written many books. Some of these books she wrote by herself. Others she wrote with other authors. She is also on the board of directors for Deseret Book. This company publishes books and other materials for the Church.
