Virginia Mauret was very talented. She would dance to music, sometimes with a small group of musicians and sometimes with a large orchestra. She performed at famous places like Carnegie Hall in New York City in 1920 and 1922.

Virginia also performed in vaudeville shows. These shows were popular at the time and featured many different acts. In her vaudeville act, she would sing, dance, and play the violin, sometimes all at the same time! She even designed her own costumes for her performances. One time, she danced to music written by the famous composer Bach.

In 1930, Virginia Mauret created the dances for a Broadway show called Babes in Toyland. This show also went on tour. A few years later, in 1933, she was singing on radio programs. She also worked with the Montreal Opera.

From the very beginning of her career, Virginia loved to perform for children. She often gave shows at public schools. Because she was so interested in teaching kids about art, she started the Young Artists Opera program in New York City in 1962. Later, in 1975, she helped change an opera called Die Opernprobe into English. This was so the Young Artists Opera could possibly perform it.
