How Visit Wales Started
Visit Wales began its journey as the Wales Tourist Board in 1969. This happened because of a law called the Development of Tourism Act. Later, in 1992, another law helped it promote Wales even more to people from other countries.
In 2006, the Wales Tourist Board officially became part of the Welsh Assembly Government. This meant it stopped being a separate group and joined the government directly. Since then, it has been known as Visit Wales.
In March 2020, Visit Wales changed its main message. Instead of saying "Visit Wales," it asked people to "Visit Wales. Later." This was a special request for people to avoid traveling to tourist spots in Wales at that time. They also asked everyone to avoid any unnecessary travel within Wales.
