Vital Aza wrote his first play, Basta de matemáticas (which means Enough with Mathematics), in 1874. It was shown at a theater called Variedades and was a huge success! This play opened the door for him to write many more.
He went on to write over 70 plays during his career. Some of these plays he wrote by himself, and others he wrote with another writer named Miguel Ramos Carrión. His works were very popular because they were often funny and relatable to people's lives.
