Vital Signs (Urdu: وائٹل سائنز) was a very popular Pakistani pop and rock band. They formed in Rawalpindi in 1986. The band quickly became one of Pakistan's most successful music groups. Many people loved their music.

The main members of Vital Signs were Rohail Hyatt (keyboardist), Shahzad Hasan (bassist), Nusrat Hussain (guitarist), and Junaid Jamshed (singer). Their music mixed different styles, from pop to rock. They also added parts of traditional Pakistani music. In the early 1990s, many people saw them as a sign of a new and exciting time for music in Pakistan. Their huge popularity helped start a new wave of music in the country.

How Vital Signs Started

The band began by playing at universities. They also performed at small rock concerts across Pakistan. Soon, a director from PTV, Shoaib Mansoor, noticed them. This was a big step for the band.

Their First Big Hit Song

Vital Signs became famous across the country because of their music video for the song "Dil Dil Pakistan". This video first played on PTV. Shoaib Mansoor wrote the song. It became a massive hit and was loved by everyone.

The BBC World even said it was one of the most popular songs ever. By the early 1990s, the band members were well-known celebrities. They were even famous internationally.

Vital Signs' Popular Albums

From the 1980s to the 1990s, Vital Signs released many successful albums. Many music experts think these albums were their best work. These included:

  • Vital Signs 1 (released in 1989)
  • Vital Signs 2 (released in 1991)
  • Aitebar (released in 1993)
  • Hum Tum (released in 1995)

The success of their second album, Vital Signs 2, made the band famous around the world. They were the first Pakistani music group to travel to the United States for a tour. This was a huge achievement for them.

What Happened After the Band

Vital Signs stopped performing together in 1998. After that, each member had a successful career on their own.

  • The lead singer, Junaid Jamshed, became a solo singer. He later became a religious scholar.
  • Shahzad Hasan focused on working as a music producer.
  • Rohail Hyatt started his own production company.

Vital Signs is still seen as one of the most important bands in Pakistan's music history. They inspired many other pop and rock groups that came after them.
