Vivian French (born in 1945) is a British writer who creates books, plays, and non-fiction for children and young adults. She has written over 250 books! Some of her well-known works include the picture book Oliver's Vegetables (1995), The Tiara Club series of chapter books, and The Most Wonderful Thing in the World (2015). She was also awarded the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her great contributions to literature and the arts.

About Vivian French
Vivian French was born in Bedfordshire, England. She studied at Cheltenham Ladies’ College and Exeter University. Before becoming a full-time writer, she worked as an actor and helped with community drama projects. She writes many kinds of stories, including picture books for younger children, novels, plays, and even poetry.
Her Popularity
Vivian French is a very popular author in the UK. Data from 2011–2012 showed that she was one of the most borrowed authors from UK public libraries. This means lots of kids and families were reading her books!
Helping Other Artists
Vivian French also teaches in the Illustration Department at Edinburgh College of Art. She is a co-founder of Picture Hooks, which is a special program that helps young professional illustrators learn and grow. In 2012, she was a Guest Selector at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, helping to choose books and events for the festival.
Awards and Recognition
