Vivienne Olive (born on May 31, 1950) is a talented British-German musician. She is known for writing music and teaching others about it.

Early Life and Education

Vivienne Olive was born in London, England. She started her music journey by studying piano, harpsichord, organ, and music theory at the Trinity College of Music in London. Music theory is about understanding how music works.

After 1968, she continued her studies at the University of York. There, she focused on composition, which means writing music. She graduated in 1975. Vivienne had many famous teachers who helped her learn to compose. These included Bernard Rands, Franco Donatoni, Roman Haubenstock-Ramati, and Klaus Huber. She also learned to play the harpsichord with Stanislav Heller.

In 1975, she earned an advanced degree in composition from the University of York. She also received special awards, called grants, from the Department of Education and Science and the German Academic Exchange Service. These grants helped her continue her studies and create new music.

Teaching and Music Career

In 1979, Vivienne Olive became a teacher at the Nuremberg Meistersinger Conservatory in Germany. She taught music theory and composition there.

A year later, in 1980, she helped start an event called the Days of New Music in Nuremberg. This festival showcased new and exciting musical pieces.

In 1995, she joined the board of a group called International Working Women and Music. This group helps support women who work in music.

Vivienne also taught music in Australia. From 1993 to 1995, she taught at the University of Ballarat and James Cook University. Later, in 2005, she became a "Composer in Residence" at Bundanon in New South Wales, Australia. This meant she lived and worked there, focusing on creating music.
