The German Academic Exchange Service (which in German is called Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst, or DAAD) is a special group in Germany. It is the biggest German organization that helps with international school and research projects.
The DAAD was started on January 1, 1925. It closed down in 1945, but then it was started again in 1950. Its main office is in Bonn, Germany.
The DAAD helps students and researchers from Germany study or do research in other countries. It also helps people from other countries come to Germany to study or research. The DAAD gets most of its money from the Foreign Office of Germany and the European Union. In 2012, the DAAD received 407.4 million Euro to support its work.
