Vixen is a small place in Louisiana, United States. It's what we call an unincorporated community. This means it's a settlement that doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town does. Instead, it's usually governed by the larger county or parish it's located in, which in this case is Caldwell Parish.
History
Vixen has an interesting past. Before it was known as Vixen, it had a different name: Maud.
A post office is a place where you can send and receive mail. A post office named Maud was opened in 1880. Later, in 1898, its name was changed to Vixen. The post office in Vixen eventually closed in 1928.
It's not clear why the name "Vixen" was chosen for the community. The reason behind it is a bit of a mystery!
