Vladimir Curbet (born December 5, 1930 – died December 8, 2017) was a very important Moldovan choreographer. A choreographer is someone who creates and arranges dance routines. From 1957 until he passed away in 2017, he was the director of a famous Moldovan national folk dance group called Joc. He was born in a place called Susleni, Orhei.

A Life of Dance

Vladimir Curbet spent most of his life dedicated to dance. He led the Joc dance ensemble for many years. Under his guidance, Joc became very well-known for its amazing performances of traditional Moldovan dances. He helped share Moldovan culture with the world through dance.

Leading the Joc Ensemble

The Joc dance company is a national treasure in Moldova. Vladimir Curbet was its 13th director. He took on this role in 1957 and continued until his death. This means he led the group for about 60 years! During his time, he helped train many dancers and created beautiful new routines.

Special Recognition

For his incredible work in the arts, Vladimir Curbet received a very high honor. In 1981, he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR. This was a special award given to artists who had made outstanding contributions to the culture of the Soviet Union. It showed how much his talent and dedication were appreciated.
