The Dimension Data Tower is a tall office building in Wellington, New Zealand. It was finished in 1999 and was designed by Peddle Thorp & Montgomery Architects. Before it was called Dimension Data Tower, it had other names like Vodafone on The Quay and Mobil on The Park.
About the Building
The Dimension Data Tower is a modern building made of concrete. It has shiny blue glass on the outside. It also includes older, stronger buildings that used to be a Police Station. These older buildings stand on either side of the tower.
The lower floors of the tower are used for parking cars. Above that, there are many floors of office space. The main architect who worked on the building was Robert Montgomery. The company that built it was Mainzeal Construction.
How Tall is It?
The Dimension Data Tower is 90 meters (about 295 feet) tall. It has 25 floors above the ground. This makes it one of the tallest buildings in Wellington. It is the fifth tallest building in the city. It is also one of the tallest buildings in New Zealand.
The building is about the same height as Bowen House, which is also in Wellington. It is also as tall as CityLife Auckland and City Garden Apartments in Auckland. The total size of the floors inside is about 28,000 square meters. Building the tower cost around $45 million.
Who Uses the Tower?
The Dimension Data Tower is owned by Precinct Properties. It got its current name, Dimension Data Tower, in March 2017. Many important technology companies in New Zealand have offices here.
