For many years, Radio Moscow shared news and programs from the Soviet Union with a global audience.

After the Soviet Union ended in 1991, Radio Moscow changed its name to the Voice of Russia in 1993. It continued to broadcast in many languages, reaching millions of listeners around the globe. It was an important way for Russia to communicate with the rest of the world.

Why Did It Close?

The Voice of Russia stopped broadcasting in 2014. The Russian government decided to reorganize its international media. Many of its functions were taken over by a new international news agency called Rossiya Segodnya. This change meant that the traditional radio broadcasts of the Voice of Russia came to an end.
