Volborg was started by a man named Charlie M. Allen. The community was named after his first wife, Theoline (Tillie) Volborg Osmenson Allen.

How Volborg Got Its Name

Family stories say that Charlie Allen first sent a list of names for the new community to the U.S. Post Office. But the Post Office didn't approve any of his choices. One day, while Charlie was thinking about new names at the dinner table, Tillie reached over. She took his pencil and the form, and she wrote down her middle name: Volborg. The U.S. Post Office liked this name, and that's how Volborg got its official name!

What Volborg Looks Like Today

Today, Volborg is a very small community. It has an elementary school where kids learn, a post office where people send and receive mail, and a store that also sells gas. There are also a couple of homes and a few other small buildings.
