The Wachusett Meadow Wildlife Sanctuary is a special place in Princeton, Massachusetts. It's a huge nature area, about 1,135 acres (or 459 hectares), which is like having over 850 football fields! The Massachusetts Audubon Society takes care of this amazing sanctuary.

A kind person named Charles T. Crocker III gave 600 acres of land and some buildings to the Massachusetts Audubon Society back in 1956. This generous gift helped create the sanctuary we know today. This sanctuary used to be a farm. Now, it has a fun nature center where you can learn about animals and plants. There are also 12 miles of trails to explore, winding through forests, wet areas, and open fields. You can even rent canoes to paddle on the big pond when the weather is nice!

Exploring the Sanctuary's Trails

Wachusett Meadow is famous for being one of the best places in New England to watch hawks. Many different kinds of hawks fly over this area, especially during their migration.

The Midstate Trail

A long hiking path called the Midstate Trail goes right through the sanctuary. It's a great way to see even more of the beautiful nature here.

Fun Programs and Camps

There are lots of exciting things to do at Wachusett Meadow! During the summer, kids can join an outdoor day camp. All year long, the sanctuary offers special events and educational programs for everyone, from young children to adults. You can learn about nature, go on guided walks, and discover new things about the environment.
