Rosemary Wahu Kagwi, known by her stage name Wahu, is a famous Kenyan singer, songwriter, and businesswoman. She has also worked as a fashion model and actress. Wahu is well-known for her popular songs and has won many awards for her music.

Wahu's Early Life and School Days

Wahu went to Hospital Hill Primary School. Later, she attended Precious Blood High School in Riruta. It was during her time in high school that she wrote her very first song. After high school, Wahu studied at the University of Nairobi. She earned a degree in mathematics and communication.

Wahu's Music Career and Achievements

Wahu began her journey in music in the year 2000. Her first song, "Niangalie," became very popular across Africa. Her first three songs were "Niangalie," "Esha," and "Liar." Around 2005, Wahu released a big hit song called "Sitishiki." Some of her music was produced by the famous Ogopa DJs.

Wahu has performed with many other talented Kenyan and African artists. These include Fally Ipupa, Nonini, Nameless, and Wyre. In 2008, she made history by becoming the first person to win the Best Female Artist award at the MTV Africa Music Awards. She has also won awards like the Pearl of Africa Music Awards, Chaguo La Teeniez Awards, and Kisima Music Awards.

Besides music, Wahu has also acted. She played a main role in a TV show called Tazama. In 2017, she released a new gospel song titled "Sifa." Wahu is also a successful businesswoman. In 2013, she opened her own salon called Afrosiri Salon. It offers services like hair styling, manicures, pedicures, and spa treatments.

Wahu's Family Life

Wahu is married to David Mathenge, who is also a famous Kenyan musician known as Nameless. They got married in 2005. Together, they have three daughters. Wahu dedicated one of her most popular songs, "Sweet Love," to her first daughter, Tumiso.
