Walid Abbas Murad Yousuf Al-Balushi (وَلِيد عَبَّاس مُرَاد يُوسُف الْبَلُوشِيّ), born on June 11, 1985, is a professional football player from the United Arab Emirates. He plays as a centre-back, which is a defensive position, for the club Shabab Al-Ahli. Walid Abbas has also played many times for the UAE national team.
Walid Abbas's Club Career
Walid Abbas has spent his entire professional club career playing for teams in the UAE. He started his journey with Al Shabab in 2002. He played there for many years, until 2013.
After leaving Al Shabab, he joined Al-Ahli in 2013. He played for Al-Ahli until 2017. In 2017, Al-Ahli merged with Al Shabab to form a new club called Shabab Al-Ahli. Walid Abbas continued to play for this new team, where he is still a key player today.
Playing for His Country
Walid Abbas has been a very important player for the UAE national team. He started playing for his country in 2008. He has represented the UAE in several major tournaments.
He played in the AFC Asian Cup three times: in 2011, 2015, and 2019. These tournaments are big competitions for national teams in Asia. During the 2011 tournament, he accidentally scored two own goals in matches against Iran and Iraq.
Walid Abbas has scored six goals for the UAE national team during his career. His first goal was in a friendly match against Kuwait in 2012. He also scored goals in qualification matches for the 2015 AFC Asian Cup. His last goal for the national team was in a friendly game against Bahrain in 2016. He played his last match for the national team in 2023.
