Wallington Jr./Sr. High School is a public high school in Wallington, New Jersey. It serves students from seventh grade all the way through twelfth grade. This school is the only high school in the Wallington Public Schools district.
In the 2023-2024 school year, about 566 students attended the school. There were also around 40 teachers. This means there were about 14 students for every teacher.

School History
Before Wallington High School opened, students from Wallington went to East Rutherford High School. The Wallington school district paid for these students to attend.
The new Wallington High School opened its doors in September 1951. At first, it was for ninth-grade students. Older students who were already at East Rutherford High School or Lodi High School finished their studies there.
The school was officially opened in November 1951. It was said to have the largest gym in the state at the time.
Awards and Recognition
Wallington High School has been recognized for its quality. For example, in September 2014, New Jersey Monthly magazine ranked it among the top public high schools in New Jersey. The school was ranked 223rd out of 339 schools statewide.
Sports and Athletics
The sports teams at Wallington High School are called the Panthers. They play in the North Jersey Interscholastic Conference. This conference includes smaller schools from different counties in Northern New Jersey.
Wallington High School sometimes teams up with Henry P. Becton Regional High School for certain sports. They have combined teams for girls' soccer and boys' tennis.
Volleyball Success
The girls' volleyball team had a great season in 1986. They won the Group I state championship! They finished the season with 20 wins and only 2 losses.
Football Achievements
The Panthers football team has a strong history. In 1959, the team had an undefeated season. They won the North I, Group I state championship.
In more recent times, the football team won state sectional championships in 1990 and 2010. In 2010, they beat Mountain Lakes High School. That win ended Mountain Lakes' 35-game winning streak, which was the longest in New Jersey at the time.
Wallington also has a sports rivalry with Henry P. Becton Regional High School. They have been playing each other since 1973.
Soccer Victories
The boys' soccer team has also achieved success. They won the North I, Group I state sectional title in 2009. They won it again in 2010.
In 2010, the soccer team went on to win the Group I state championship. This was the first state championship for the boys' soccer team in the school's history.
School Leadership
The principal of Wallington High School is Michael Fromfield. He works with a team, including the vice principal, to lead the school.
Famous Alumni
- Ralph Kirchenheiter (class of 1957) was a football coach and athletic director at Muhlenberg College.
