Walnut is a small place in Macon County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. It is known as an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that doesn't have its own official local government like a city or town. Instead, it's managed by the larger county.

The History of Walnut

The community of Walnut got its name from a nearby stream called Walnut Creek. Many years ago, in 1882, a post office was opened in Walnut. This was a place where people could send and receive their mail. The post office served the community for a while, but it eventually closed down in 1914.
