The very first store in Walnut opened its doors in the year 1834. This store would have been a very important place for the people living nearby, as it was where they could buy supplies and meet their neighbors.

The Walnut Post Office

Later, in 1890, a post office was set up in Walnut. Having a post office meant that people could send and receive letters and packages more easily. This was a big step for the community. The post office served the area for a few years, closing down in 1902.
