History
Walnut City was first planned and started in the year 1858.
A post office was opened in Walnut City in 1867. A post office is where people send and receive mail. This office stayed open for many years. However, it closed down in 1897.
The number of people living in Walnut City changed over time. In 1900, there were 33 people. By 1915, the population had dropped to 11 people. Then, in 1925, it went up a bit to 32 people. In 1940, 30 people lived there.
