However, he again had academic difficulties and could not play in the spring semester.
Walter Sharpe's Professional Basketball Career
In 2008, Walter Sharpe was chosen by the Seattle SuperSonics in the 2008 NBA draft. He was the 32nd player picked overall. Soon after, his rights were traded to the Detroit Pistons. Around this time, he was diagnosed with narcolepsy. This is a sleep disorder that makes people feel very sleepy during the day.
On July 13, 2009, the Pistons traded him to the Denver Nuggets. He was traded again on July 31, 2009, to the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks later decided to release him from their team on October 26, 2009.

In March 2013, Walter Sharpe joined GlobalPort Batang Pier in the PBA. He played only two games for the team. His contract was ended because of his behavior. The team manager said they would not accept actions that hurt the team's image.
He later played for several teams around the world. These included teams in Puerto Rico, Venezuela, China, and Taiwan. He joined Brujos de Guayama in Puerto Rico in July 2014 but played only one game. In February 2015, he signed with Cocodrilos de Caracas in Venezuela.
