Wang Guozhen (simplified Chinese: 汪国真; traditional Chinese: 汪國真; pinyin: Wāng Guózhēn) was a famous Chinese poet. He was born on June 22, 1956, and passed away on April 26, 2015. His poems were very popular, especially among young people in China.

Life of a Poet

Wang Guozhen was born in Beijing, China. After finishing middle school, he went to Jinan University. He studied Chinese literature there and graduated in 1982. After university, he worked at the China Art Research Institute. He even became a leader for a magazine called Chinese Art Yearbook.

Wang started writing and publishing his poems in 1984. His very first poem, called I Smile To Live, was printed in a magazine named Young People.

He became a regular writer for several popular magazines starting in 1990. These included Liaoning Youth, China Youth, and Girlfriend.

On May 21, 1990, his first book of poems, titled Young Tide, was published. This book helped him become even more well-known.

In 2013, a special book of his poems was translated into English. It was called Top Modern Chinese Poems: Wang Guozhen's 80 Poems in English Verse. This helped people around the world read his work.

Sadly, Wang Guozhen passed away in Beijing on April 26, 2015, after battling liver cancer.
