Wang Huiqin (born October 21, 1955) is a talented artist from China who also lives in Slovenia. She is a painter, a calligrapher (someone who creates beautiful writing), a book illustrator, and an author.

About Wang Huiqin

Wang Huiqin was born in Nantong, China, in 1955. She studied fine arts at the Nanjing Faculty of Education. In 1983, Wang moved to Slovenia. There, she focused on graphic arts and painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana. She now lives and works in Ljubljana.

Her main work involves visual art and writing. She also teaches calligraphy and Chinese art at the University of Ljubljana. In 2000, she became a senior assistant professor for drawing and calligraphy.

Her Art and Impact

Wang Huiqin brings a special mix of Asian and European cultures to Slovenia. She combines ideas from Western and Eastern painting styles. She also shares her personal experiences as someone living in a new country. In 2005, Slovenian Times named her the cultural personality of the year.

She has shown her art in many countries, including Portugal, Italy, Belgium, Austria, and Germany. She has also had many exhibitions in Slovenia and China.

Books and Illustrations

Wang Huiqin has illustrated and written many children's books for publishers in Slovenia. These books often tell tales and stories from the Far East.

In 2008, she started a big project about Ferdinand Avguštin Hallerstein. This project included many events, art shows, and an illustrated book.

Her husband is Mitja Saje, who studies Chinese culture and language.
