Ward Hill is a special place in the northeastern part of Staten Island, New York City. It's a hill and also the name of the neighborhood around it. Ward Hill is the first in a line of hills that stretch across Staten Island. One of these hills, Todt Hill, is the highest point in the eastern United States near the coast, south of Maine!

Ward Hill got its name from Caleb T. Ward. He bought land at the top of the hill way back in 1826. For a long time, important local leaders and politicians lived in this area. Caleb T. Ward's own house, the Caleb T. Ward Mansion, is a famous building. It was built around 1835 and is located at 141 Nixon Avenue. This mansion is considered a New York City landmark and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Part of Ward Hill has a steep drop-off on its western side. This cliff looks over Victory Boulevard in Tompkinsville.
