College Basketball Days
Playing for the University of Ottawa
Warren Ward played college basketball for the University of Ottawa. He became the second-highest scorer in the school's history. In his final season, he averaged 17.8 points per game. He also grabbed 7.6 rebounds and made 3.8 assists per game.
Professional Basketball Career
Starting with the Mississauga Power
On January 9, 2015, Warren Ward signed with the Mississauga Power. This team is part of the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL). He returned to play in his home country.
Just one day later, he played his first game. He scored 17 points and got 9 rebounds against the Moncton Miracles. On January 15, he grabbed a season-high 12 rebounds against the Brampton A's. He also scored his best of 28 points against the Halifax Rainmen, along with 11 rebounds.
Joining the London Lightning
On September 8, 2015, Ward returned to the NBL Canada. He signed with the London Lightning. His coach there was Kyle Julius, who had also coached him with the Power.
Coach Julius said that Warren brought mental toughness to the team. He also mentioned Warren's professionalism. These qualities helped the younger players and kept the team playing at a high level. Julius was proud to have Warren on the team. He respected Warren as both a great player and a person. After this season, Warren Ward was named the Canadian of the Year.
Playing for Windsor and in Spain
Warren Ward played for the Windsor Express during the 2016–17 season. After that, he moved to Spain. He played for Cáceres Patrimonio de la Humanidad. This team is in the Spanish second division basketball league.
International Basketball
Representing Canada
Warren Ward has played for Canada in international games. He played for his country in the 2011 Pan American Games. He also competed in the 2011 Summer Universiade. At the Universiade, his team finished in second place. This earned them a silver medal for Canada.
