Discover the Historic Bible Covered Bridge
One of the most interesting spots in Warrensburg is the Bible Covered Bridge. This special bridge was built way back in 1923
. It was first made for the Bible Family to use as their own private bridge. How the Bridge Became a Historic Site
Around 1972, a group called the Greene County Heritage Trust took over the bridge. They worked to fix it up and keep it strong. Later, from 1987 to 1988, even more improvements were made. The Tennessee Department of Transportation, Greene County, and the Federal Highway Administration all worked together.
Protecting the Bible Covered Bridge
During these updates, a new bridge was built right next to the old covered bridge. This helped keep traffic off the historic structure. They also added special rocks, called rip-rap, to protect the bridge from water. A parking area was created too, so visitors can easily stop and see the bridge. The state also put up railings to keep cars away from the old bridge, making it safer for people to walk across. Today, the Bible Covered Bridge is cared for as a State Historic Site, meaning it's an important part of history that everyone can enjoy.
