What Is Warriors: Changing Skies About?
The story takes place in a world where four main cat groups live together. These groups follow special rules and honor the spirits of their ancestors in StarClan. StarClan cats watch over living cats from the night sky and send special signs.
In this series, humans build new things close to natural cat hunting territory. This strange construction disturbs a sacred place called the Moonpool. The Moonpool is a magical pond where Clan medicine cats speak with StarClan spirits. If this special pool is ruined, the cats lose their connection to ancient wisdom.
Meanwhile, young cats learn important skills so they can protect their woodland home. Training to be a hunter or healer takes immense patience and strong focus. Several young apprentices must also deal with surprising ghostly voices and unexpected secrets.
Important Cat Characters in the Books
Many different cats work together across several Clan borders to solve these problems. Each cat has unique talents and special duties within their family group.

- Leafstar: The experienced leader of SkyClan who faces difficult decisions when her eyesight weakens.
Book Summaries and Plot Details
The changing forest brings fresh mysteries across each book of this action-packed adventure. Every story builds upon the choices that the brave characters make outdoors.
The Elders' Quest
The story begins up in StarClan, where ancient cat spirits watch over the forest. The spirits argue about how to send an important warning message to earth. Their new prophecy warns that a cat connected to two worlds might cause trouble.
Down below, noisy human construction machines start digging near the sacred Moonpool. Most cats ignore the sounds, but Tawnypelt notices that the land is changing fast. She worries that the spirits will not be able to visit them anymore.
Inside ThunderClan, young Moonpaw has a difficult time focusing on everyday duties. She tries training as a healer, but a mysterious voice keeps whispering inside her head. The voice belongs to her lost sister, Morningkit, who never grew up. Moonpaw feels very nervous and decides to keep this surprising secret completely hidden.
Farther away in SkyClan, their respected leader Leafstar discovers her eyesight is failing. Because she cannot see well, she misjudges an attack against badgers. During this fight, the father of Starlingpaw loses his life. The Clan feels deeply saddened by this tragic woodland accident. Leafstar steps down from her post so that her deputy, Hawkwing, can lead. At the end, Tawnypelt receives the mysterious warning dream from StarClan.
Hidden Moon
In the second book, Starlingpaw hears about the dream from Tawnypelt. He starts worrying that he might be the cat mentioned in the warning. Because of this worry, he begins watching his Clan friends with deep suspicion.
Meanwhile, Tawnypelt travels over to visit her elderly brother, Brambleclaw, in ThunderClan. Brambleclaw gives helpful advice to young Moonpaw. He suggests that she ask her parents about Morningkit with genuine kindness. Moonpaw hopes that sharing warm memories will help Morningkit find peace in StarClan. Sadly, the plan fails when the angry spirit cat begins causing real trouble.
The Clans pick several brave travelers to go find the Tribe of Rushing Water. They hope a mountain spirit can reconnect them with their ancestors in the sky. During the journey, an eagle suddenly swoops down and hurts an older warrior named Crowfeather. Crowfeather falls from a high branch and drops into a very deep sleep.
Chasing Shadows
The traveling cats realize Crowfeather is stuck in a deep unconscious sleep after his fall. While watching over his friend, Starlingpaw sees Crowfeather's floating spirit wander nearby. Crowfeather's spirit wonders which traveling companion might bring terrible danger to the forest. Starlingpaw feels shocked because Crowfeather kept this serious worry hidden from the group.
Soon, Crowfeather wakes up, and the cats head back home through the woods. Starlingpaw shares the secret prophecy with everyone during a large forest Gathering. This sudden news makes all the Clan cats feel anxious and mistrustful.
Back in ThunderClan, Moonpaw faces harder struggles against her angry sister's spirit. Morningkit grows jealous because Moonpaw likes a kind apprentice named Goldenpaw. The upset spirit temporarily takes control of Moonpaw and causes real harm. Horrified by what happened, Moonpaw runs away into the wild woods alone.
Starlingpaw spots Moonpaw crossing SkyClan territory with the angry spirit following beside her. Believing she matches the prophecy, he guides her safely away past Clan borders. Luckily, faithful Goldenpaw leaves home too, choosing to stay by Moonpaw's side.
At the same time, Tawnypelt seeks advice from the oldest cats in the forest. She visits a place called the Whispering Cave to find a new path to StarClan. Later, cats inspect the Moonpool after construction workers finally leave the damaged clearing. Unfortunately, human tools have ruined the water, leaving the pool completely quiet and broken.

Themes of Friendship and Teamwork
Young readers learn many positive life lessons from the brave cats in these stories. The books teach that honesty with family members helps solve scary problems quickly. When characters keep secrets out of fear, misunderstandings often grow much larger.
The series also shows why caring for nature and green spaces is vital. Human building projects can easily disrupt animal homes and natural clean water sources. Working as a team helps the wild cats protect the woods they love.
