List of Warriors characters facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

The Warriors book series is all about wild cats living in Clans. These books are written by a team of authors known as Erin Hunter. There are many, many characters in the series, so this list helps keep them organized by their Clan.

Sometimes, a character might be listed under one story arc but still be important in other stories too!

Contents

The world of Warriors has five main Clans: ThunderClan, RiverClan, WindClan, ShadowClan, and SkyClan. Each cat in these Clans has a special two-part name.

How Cats Get Their Names

A cat's name starts with a "prefix" like Blue, Bramble, or Tall. This first part usually stays the same their whole life. The second part, called the "suffix," changes as the cat grows up and takes on different roles in their Clan.

  • When a cat is a kitten, their name ends with "-kit" (like Bluekit).
  • When they become an apprentice, training to be a warrior or medicine cat, their name changes to end with "-paw" (like Bluepaw).
  • Once they finish training and become a full warrior or medicine cat, their leader or medicine cat gives them a new suffix (like Bluefur).
  • If a cat becomes a Clan leader, their name gets the special suffix "-star" (like Bluestar).

Sometimes, a cat's name might be changed in a special ceremony.

Not all cats follow these rules! Cats from the Tribe of Rushing Water, for example, get names based on the first memorable thing their mother sees after they are born. These names stay the same forever. If a Tribe cat becomes their leader, called the Teller of the Pointed Stones, their name changes to "Stoneteller."

Cats who don't belong to any group might have completely different names.

Clan Beliefs

When Clan cats die, their spirits go to a special place called StarClan if they lived good lives. StarClan is like a peaceful afterlife where warrior ancestors watch over the living Clans. If cats were not good, their spirits go to the Dark Forest, which is a bad place.

Cats can try to talk to StarClan at a special quartz rock called the Moonstone, or a quiet pool of water called the Moonpool.
