Warriors: Power of Three is the third exciting series in the Warriors fantasy books. It's all about wild cats who live in Clans and act like humans. This series has six books, published from 2007 to 2009: The Sight, Dark River, Outcast, Eclipse, Long Shadows, and Sunrise.
The books are written by Erin Hunter, which is a pen name for several authors: Kate Cary, Cherith Baldry, Tui Sutherland, and Victoria Holmes. Power of Three follows the adventures of Firestar's three grandchildren: Jaykit, Hollykit, and Lionkit. A special message says they will have "the power of the stars in their paws." The stories explore themes like secret relationships, whether cats are born good or bad, and how characters can be a mix of both. These books have even appeared on the New York Times Bestseller List!

The World of Warriors
The Warriors books are created by Erin Hunter, a name used by four people. Victoria Holmes plans the stories and edits them. Kate Cary, Cherith Baldry, and Tui Sutherland take turns writing the books.
The Warriors series is about four main groups of feral cats called Clans: ThunderClan, RiverClan, WindClan, and ShadowClan. These Clans believe in StarClan, which is made up of the spirits of their ancestors. In an earlier series, another group of wild cats, the Tribe of Rushing Water, was introduced. They live in mountains and believe in their own ancestors, the Tribe of Endless Hunting.
Meet the Main Characters
- Jayfeather: Jayfeather, first called Jaykit, is a blind grey tabby cat with blue eyes. He is the brother of Lionblaze and Hollyleaf. He trains to be a medicine cat in ThunderClan. Jayfeather has a special power from a prophecy: he can feel other cats' emotions and enter their dreams. He is known for being proud and sometimes sarcastic, especially when he feels others judge him for being blind.
- Hollyleaf: Hollyleaf, first called Hollykit, is a black cat with green eyes. She is the sister of Lionblaze and Jayfeather. She becomes a warrior in ThunderClan. Hollyleaf strongly believes in the warrior code and follows its rules very strictly.
- Lionblaze: Lionblaze, first called Lionkit, is a golden tabby cat. He is the brother of Jayfeather and Hollyleaf. He becomes a warrior in ThunderClan. Lionblaze is an amazing fighter and seems unbeatable in battle. He secretly trained with the spirits of past enemies, Tigerstar and Hawkfrost, without knowing their true intentions.
Clan Life and StarClan
In the Warriors world, four Clans of wild cats live in a forest. Each Clan has a leader, deputy, warriors, medicine cats, and apprentices. Cats live and hunt in their own areas, which they protect from other Clans. Each Clan is good at hunting certain prey and has special skills for their territory.
StarClan is a group of the Clans' dead ancestors. They guide the Clans through dreams and signs. StarClan warriors watch over their living Clans, giving advice and warnings.
The Tribe of Rushing Water
Beyond the Clan territories, there is a mountain range where the Tribe of Rushing Water lives. The Tribe is similar to the Clans but has different ancestors, the Tribe of Endless Hunting. They have a Healer, who leads the Tribe and talks to their ancestors, and also cave-guards and prey-hunters.
Story Overview
The Power of Three series tells the story of Jayfeather, Hollyleaf, and Lionblaze as they grow up and discover their special powers.
The Sight
The story begins with a prophecy given to Firestar: "There will be three, kin of your kin, who hold the power of the stars in their paws." Firestar's three young grandchildren, Lionkit, Hollykit, and Jaykit, sneak out of camp to hunt foxes. They get into trouble but are saved.
Later, Hollypaw starts training with the medicine cat, Leafpool, and Lionpaw trains with Ashfur. Jaypaw, who is blind, trains with Brightheart. Jaypaw often feels frustrated that others see his blindness as a weakness.
At a Gathering, Graystripe, a cat thought to be lost, returns with a new friend, Millie. He was taken by humans but escaped. His return causes a problem because Firestar had chosen Brambleclaw as his new deputy, thinking Graystripe was gone. Firestar decides Brambleclaw should remain deputy because he knows the new territories better.
During a battle with ShadowClan, Jaypaw helps his sibling fight by telling them where the enemy is. Hollypaw realizes she prefers fighting to medicine cat duties. Jaypaw has a dream from StarClan telling him he must be a medicine cat because he can enter dreams. So, Jaypaw and Hollypaw switch roles. Jaypaw becomes Leafpool's apprentice, and Hollypaw trains to be a warrior.
The Clans decide to hold a special Gathering where apprentices compete in contests. Jaypaw, unable to compete, has a vision. He sees through Lionpaw's eyes and realizes Lionpaw and Breezepaw have fallen into a collapsing badger set. Jaypaw rushes to save them with Crowfeather's help.
At the end, Jaypaw enters Firestar's dream and hears the prophecy. He realizes he and his siblings are the "Three" and wonders if they will become powerful enough to command even StarClan.
Dark River
In Dark River, we learn about secret tunnels under the moorland. A mysterious cat named Fallen Leaves drowns in these tunnels after being trapped by rain.
Lionpaw becomes friends with Heatherpaw, a WindClan apprentice. They meet secretly in the hidden tunnels. Meanwhile, RiverClan is having a "small problem" and is forced to live on the Gathering island. Hollypaw finds out that human children are disturbing their camp. RiverClan is widening the river to keep the children away.
Tigerstar, a spirit cat, starts training Lionpaw in special battle moves. Lionpaw begins to teach these moves to Heatherpaw, but Hawkfrost warns him not to share Clan secrets with an enemy. Lionpaw must choose between his friendship with Heatherpaw and his loyalty to ThunderClan. He chooses his Clan, which deeply hurts Heatherpaw.
Jaypaw finds a stick with strange scratches. He has a dream where he experiences what Fallen Leaves did, and understands the scratches are a record of ancient cats who tried to pass through the tunnels.
Cinderpaw breaks her leg. Jaypaw learns that Cinderpaw is actually Cinderpelt, a former medicine cat, reborn! Cinderpaw doesn't remember her past life.
Later, Jaypaw, Lionpaw, and Hollypaw enter the tunnels to find missing WindClan kits. They meet WindClan apprentices Breezepaw and Heatherpaw. Guided by Fallen Leaves' spirit, they find the kits. It starts raining, and the tunnel floods, but Jaypaw finds a way out. They return the kits, stopping a battle between WindClan and RiverClan.

Two cats from the Tribe of Rushing Water ask ThunderClan for help. A group of rogue cats is bothering their Tribe and stealing their food. Stormfur and Brook, who had lived with the Tribe before, explain they were banished after Stormfur led the Tribe into a battle where many cats were hurt.
Brambleclaw, Squirrelflight, Jaypaw, Hollypaw, Lionpaw, and cats from other Clans travel to the mountains to help. They try to talk to the rogues, but the rogues ignore them. The Clan cats then teach the Tribe how to fight. The Tribe cats are hesitant at first but manage to defeat the invaders, who promise to leave them alone.
Jaypaw continues to search for clues about the prophecy of the "Three." At the end of Outcast, Jaypaw decides to tell Lionpaw and Hollypaw about the prophecy he discovered earlier.
Eclipse
The cats return from helping the Tribe. Tigerstar and Hawkfrost keep training Lionpaw. Hollypaw finds a secret tunnel near the WindClan border.
Cinderpaw injures her leg during her warrior assessment. Jaypaw helps her learn to swim in the lake. Leafpool is impressed by Jaypaw's idea.
A mysterious loner named Sol comes to ThunderClan camp. Sol tells Jaypaw and Leafpool that the sun will disappear. That night, WindClan invades ThunderClan camp, starting a battle. Firestar stops the fight, and WindClan leaves.
Later, all four Clans end up fighting. During the battle, the sun goes into an eclipse! The Clans panic and retreat to their own territories.
Jaypaw convinces Lionpaw and Hollypaw to find Sol and ask about the prophecy. They find him in an old human building. Sol tells them what he knows. Sol then goes to ShadowClan and convinces Blackstar and his Clan to stop believing in StarClan. At the next Gathering, Blackstar announces this, shocking the other Clans.
At the end of the book, Cinderpaw, Hollypaw, and Lionpaw become warriors, named Cinderheart, Hollyleaf, and Lionblaze. Jaypaw wonders if their powers will save or destroy the Clan.
Long Shadows
When Sol convinces ShadowClan to stop believing in StarClan, Tawnypelt takes her kits to ThunderClan for safety. Jaypaw, with Hollyleaf, Lionblaze, and ShadowClan kits, creates a fake sign from StarClan to show Blackstar that StarClan is real. Blackstar is still unsure until spirits of dead ShadowClan cats appear, telling him to get rid of Sol and believe in StarClan. Blackstar is convinced.
Tawnypelt and her kits return to ShadowClan. Then, a sickness called greencough breaks out in ThunderClan. Millie and Briarkit get sick, and soon Firestar also falls ill. The Clan is low on catmint, the cure for greencough. Jaypaw has a dream that shows him where to find more catmint in WindClan territory.
In another dream, Jaypaw travels back in time to Fallen Leaves' Tribe. He helps them decide to move to the mountains, realizing they will become the Tribe of Rushing Water. When he returns, he asks Lionblaze to get the catmint. Lionblaze is hesitant because of dreams where he hurts Heathertail (formerly Heatherpaw). But as the sickness worsens, he goes. Lionblaze gets the catmint, and the Clan heals. Jaypaw finally becomes a full medicine cat, named Jayfeather.
During a storm, the camp catches fire. Jayfeather, Lionblaze, Hollyleaf, and Squirrelflight are trapped. Ashfur helps them, but then he blocks their way. Ashfur reveals he was involved in a past attempt to harm Firestar and threatens to hurt Squirrelflight's kits to get back at her. Squirrelflight then reveals a huge secret: the three cats are not her kits! She explains she kept this secret from Brambleclaw and the whole Clan. Ashfur lets them go but threatens to tell everyone. Jayfeather, Hollyleaf, and Lionblaze realize they are not Firestar's kin, so they cannot be the "Three" from the prophecy.
The fire dies down. Three days before the Gathering, Ashfur goes missing. On the way to the Gathering, his body is found in a stream. Leafpool notices a wound on his neck, suggesting he was killed. Firestar announces that Ashfur's death is a mystery and suspects a ThunderClan cat. The three siblings promise to keep their secrets.
Sunrise
Sunrise begins with Leafpool trying to send Ashfur to StarClan. She finds a tuft of fur in Ashfur's claws and knows whose it is. ThunderClan discusses Ashfur's death. Many think a WindClan cat did it. Firestar sends a patrol to WindClan, but Onestar denies it. Ashfoot, a WindClan cat, says she saw Sol near Ashfur's body, making Sol a suspect.
Firestar sends a patrol to find Sol. They find him in a human place where Purdy lives. Sol agrees to return to ThunderClan. Sol doesn't say if he killed Ashfur, so he is kept under guard.
Jayfeather tries to find out who his true parents are. He learns that Leafpool accidentally put a strange herb in Mousefur's medicine after Jayfeather's birth. He finds the herb, parsley, which stops a cat's milk. Jayfeather realizes that Leafpool was with Squirrelflight when he was born, and that Leafpool is his true mother.
Hollyleaf also learns that Leafpool is her mother. Leafpool then tells the truth: Hollyleaf killed Ashfur, and the fur found in Ashfur's paw belonged to Hollyleaf.
Yellowfang, a StarClan cat, visits Jayfeather in a dream. She tells him the truth about his father, leaving him a crow's feather. This shows their father is Crowfeather of WindClan.
At the Gathering, Hollyleaf reveals the secret about her and her brothers' parents to all the Clans. Crowfeather denies being their father. His son, Breezepelt, and mate, Nightcloud, are very angry. Brambleclaw is heartbroken by Squirrelflight's deception and ends their relationship. Seeing that everyone is upset, Hollyleaf runs into the tunnels, which collapse on her.
Jayfeather realizes that only he and Lionblaze are part of the prophecy. But then he sees Whitewing's kits and understands that one of them will be the third cat, as they are Firestar's grand-niece or grand-nephew.
