Watt Key (born Albert Watkins Key, Jr.) is an American author. He is famous for writing exciting survival stories for young adults. Watt Key lives in Alabama.

His first book, Alabama Moon, came out in 2006. It won the E.B. White Read-Aloud Award in 2007. The book also received a Parents' Choice Award. Alabama Moon has been translated into eight different languages. In 2015, TIME Magazine named it one of the top 100 young-adult books ever. A movie based on Alabama Moon was released in 2009. It starred actor John Goodman.

About Watt Key's Life

Watt Key went to Bayside Academy in Daphne, Alabama. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Birmingham–Southern College. Later, he received a Master of Business Administration from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama.

Before becoming a full-time writer, Watt Key worked as a computer programmer. He started sending his stories to publishers in New York City. When he was 34, his first novel, Alabama Moon, was accepted by Farrar, Straus and Giroux. Watt Key lives in Mobile, Alabama, with his wife and three children.
