The Story of Wawel Sweets
Wawel started a long time ago, in 1951. It began as a company owned by the government.
Becoming a Private Company
In 1992, Wawel became a private company. This means it was no longer owned by the government. Then, in 1998, Wawel's shares could be bought and sold on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. This is like a big marketplace where people can buy small parts of a company.
Moving to a New Factory
For many years, Wawel made its sweets in three old factories in a city called Kraków. But in 2006, they moved all their production to a brand new, modern factory in Dobczyce. This new factory helps them make even more delicious treats!
Who Owns Wawel Now?
Since 2007, a company from Germany called Hosta International has owned more than half of Wawel's shares. This means they are a big owner of the company.
