The Waycobah First Nation is made up of two main areas. These areas are special lands set aside for the Mi'kmaq people.
The Two Communities
The Waycobah First Nation includes two important communities:
- Whycocomagh 2: This is the main community where most of the people live. It is located about 70.4 kilometers west of Sydney, a city in Nova Scotia. This community was officially set up on January 31, 1833. In 2012, about 831 people lived here.
- Malagawatch 4: The Waycobah First Nation shares this community with other First Nations. It is located about 62 kilometers southwest of Sydney. This land was set up on August 2, 1833. In 2012, no one from Waycobah lived on this part of the reserve.
