The Waywayseecappo First Nation (which means Wewezhigaabawing in the Ojibwe language) is a community of First Nations people. They have their own special land, called a reserve, located about 32 kilometers (20 miles) east of Russell, Manitoba, Canada.
Their main reserve covers a large area of 10,059 hectares (about 24,856 acres). It is close to the southwestern part of Riding Mountain National Park. The land is next to the Rural Municipality of Rossburn and the Rural Municipality of Silver Creek. The Waywayseecappo First Nation also shares a piece of land, 37.1 hectares (91.7 acres), with 32 other First Nations. This shared land is called the Treaty Four Reserve Grounds (Indian Reserve No. 77) and is near Fort Qu'Appelle.
In 2011, the community had 1,219 people. The Waywayseecappo First Nation is home to the Waywayseecappo Wolverines, a hockey team in the MJHL league. You can find several businesses in the Birdtail valley, close to Highway 45. These include a gas station, a food store, a gaming center, a health center, a daycare, and a community sports arena. Since April 1, 2014, the community has been policed by the Dakota Ojibway Police Services instead of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
