How the Game Works
In Webheads, four players compete in challenges. These challenges are all about watching and knowing things about popular viral videos from the internet.
Round 1: Buffering
In this round, four different videos are shown to the players. Each video will stop or "pause" right before the end. The host, Carlos, then asks a question about what happens next in the video.
Players get three choices (A, B, or C) for their answer. They secretly pick the one they think is right. The points for each video increase:
- First video: 1 point
- Second video: 2 points
- Third video: 3 points
- Last video: 5 points
The most points a player can get in this round is 11. The player with the lowest score is eliminated from the game. They get to ride a special surfboard in the "Surf the Web Area" and get sprayed with water. They also receive some Webheads merchandise as a prize.
Round 2: Memory Overload
The three players who made it through Round 1 move on. Their scores are reset to zero for this round. Players stand on a moving platform, like a big spinning wheel or a shaking trackpad. While they are moving, a series of videos play.
After each video, Carlos asks questions about what they just saw. Players need to quickly buzz in to answer. If a player answers wrong, another player gets a chance. Points go up as the round continues:
- First two videos: 10 points for each question (two questions per video).
- Next two videos: 20 points for each question.
- Last video: 30 points for its one question.
A player can earn up to 90 points in this round. The player with the lowest score is eliminated. The two players with the highest scores move on to the final round. The eliminated player still gets a prize.
Tiebreaker: Video Remix
Sometimes, two or more players might have the same lowest score in Round 1 or Round 2. If this happens, they play a special game called "Video Remix."
In this game, a video plays where a certain part repeats over and over. Players are asked to guess how many times that part will play. After the video, they lock in their guess. The actual number is then shown. The player whose guess was closest to the real number gets to stay in the game and move to the next round.
Round 3: Moment of Impact
This is the final round, with two players left. Up to three videos are shown. Each video plays twice. The first time, players just watch it. The second time, they listen for a horn sound. This sound tells them the "moment of impact" in the video.
The two players try to buzz in exactly at that moment of impact. The player who buzzes in closest to the sound wins that video. The first player to win two videos wins the game! They get to play the bonus round for big prizes and the "Slime Wave." The other player is eliminated and gets sprayed with water in the "Surf the Web Area." This player also receives a prize.
Bonus Round: Trending Now / The Spinning Wheel of Doom
Before the bonus round, the audience votes on their favorite videos from the show that day. They rank four videos from worst to best. The winning player's job is to guess this exact ranking order.
The player grabs four tablets, each showing one of the videos. They have to carry these tablets through a spinning obstacle course called the "Spinning Wheel of Doom." This course has hurdles and a wall. The player places the tablets in the order they think is correct.
After placing them, the winner presses a button. Carlos tells them how many videos they got in the right spot. If any are correct, the wall opens and stays open. Carlos will also tell them if any correct videos are "locked in," meaning they don't need to be moved.
The player has 90 seconds to put all four videos in the correct order. If they do it, they win the grand prize! They also get to ride the famous "Slime Wave" and confetti shoots out. If they don't get them all right in time, they still get a prize and get sprayed with water.
The Surf the Web Area
After each part of the game, players who are eliminated (and those who lose the bonus round) get a special ride. They put on goggles and ride a surfboard barefoot. As they ride, water is sprayed on them!
The grand prize winner, who wins the bonus round, gets an even cooler experience. They get to ride the "Slime Wave," which is filled with Nickelodeon's famous green slime!
