Weiser Hall facts for kids
Weiser Hall is an important building at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It's right in the middle of the main campus.
This building was first built in 1963. It was designed by a famous company called Albert Kahn Associates. Back then, it was known as the David M. Dennison Building.

A New Name and a Big Change
In 2014, the building got a new name: Weiser Hall. This was to thank Ronald Weiser and Eileen Weiser. They are alumni (former students) of the University of Michigan and gave a lot of money to the university.
Modern Makeover
Weiser Hall had a huge renovation. It was completely redone inside! The work finished in September 2017. An architecture firm called Diamond Schmitt Architects led the project.
They removed some of the brick on the outside. They replaced it with large glass windows. This created amazing views, especially on the tenth floor. This floor now has a special event space. It has floor-to-ceiling glass walls. You can see all of Ann Arbor from there!
The renovation also added cool features inside. There are four beautiful two-story common rooms. These are great places for students to relax. Every second floor also has kitchens. Plus, there are four two-story "green walls" with plants inside!
What Happens Inside Weiser Hall?
Weiser Hall is now a hub for learning. It brings together many different groups. These groups focus on international studies. They are part of the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts.
Who Works and Studies Here?
The International Institute is the biggest group in Weiser Hall. They have offices on three floors. This institute includes many smaller groups. These groups study different regions of the world. They also focus on various academic topics.
Learning Spaces
The building has two main parts. There's a tall section (the hi-rise) and a shorter section (the low-rise). The low-rise part has many large lecture halls. These are used for big classes.
In the lower level, you can find the Physics Demonstration Lab. This is where cool science experiments are shown. A breezeway on the second floor connects the two parts of the building.
