Wes Patten was born on February 17, 1974. He is a former professional rugby league player from Australia. Wes played as a half-back. He was active in the 1990s and early 2000s.

Wes Patten's Rugby League Career
Wes Patten started his professional rugby league journey in 1993. He made his first-grade debut for the Balmain Tigers. This happened in Round 22 of the 1993 NSWRL season. His first game was against Parramatta.
Playing for the Balmain Tigers
In 1995, the Balmain Tigers changed their name. They became the "Sydney Tigers." This change happened during a time called the Super League war. The team also moved their home games. They started playing at Parramatta Stadium.
Wes became a regular player for the team in 1996. He was an important part of the squad. After the 1996 season, he left the Tigers. He then joined the Gold Coast Chargers.
Time with the Gold Coast Chargers
Wes Patten had a great first year with the Gold Coast Chargers. In 1997, he played 24 matches. This was a big year for the club. They reached the finals series for the very first time.
Patten played in both of the Chargers' finals games. They won one game against Illawarra by 25–14. They then lost 32–10 to the Sydney City Roosters.
The next year, 1998, was the Chargers' last season. Wes played in their final game ever. They lost a close match 20–18 against Cronulla-Sutherland.
Later Career and Retirement
In 1999, Wes Patten joined the South Sydney Rabbitohs. He played for them in their last season before they were removed from the league. This was a controversial decision at the time.
In 2000, Wes moved to the St. George Illawarra Dragons. He played one season with them. After that season, at the age of 26, he decided to retire from professional rugby league.
Other Activities and Interests
Besides playing rugby league, Wes Patten also appeared on television. He was a guest star in some Australian soap operas.
- In 1989, he was in A Country Practice. He played a character named Lionel Ngurra.
- In 1993, he appeared in Home and Away. He played a student named Kevin Baker.
He also appeared in the 1994 Australian TV show Heartland.
More recently, Wes Patten worked as a reporter. He was also a sideline host for The Barefoot Rugby League Show. This show was on National Indigenous Television (NITV).
Family Connections
Wes Patten has a famous cousin. His cousin is Anthony Mundine. Anthony Mundine is also a well-known Australian sportsman. He has been successful in both rugby league and boxing.
