The Story Behind West 7th
West 7th is owned by a company called Cypress Equities. This company is based in Dallas. Another company, Vestar, helps manage the area. In 2006, Cypress Equities bought the land. This included the old headquarters of Acme Brick. They worked with an investment company called The Carlyle Group. Together, they spent about $200 million to build West 7th.
The design for West 7th was created by Good Fulton & Farrell. They are architects from Dallas. West 7th officially opened its doors in March 2010. Since then, more restaurants and shops have joined. West 7th is special because it's a "pedestrian-oriented" area. This means it's easy and fun to walk around. This style of city development was more common in Fort Worth a long time ago, before cars became so popular.
