West Austintown's Beginnings
West Austintown began to grow in 1869. This was an important year because a railroad line was built to reach this spot. Railroads were very important back then. They helped people travel and move goods.
A post office was opened in West Austintown in 1872. This post office helped people send and receive letters and packages. It was a key part of the community for many years. The post office served the area until 1929.
