A Look Back: West Chester's History
West Chester has a history that goes back over 200 years! It was officially planned and mapped out in the year 1814. This process is called "platting," and it helps organize how land is divided and used.
For a while, West Chester was known by a different name: Cadwallader. There was even a post office in Cadwallader that opened in 1828. This post office helped people send and receive mail for many years until it closed down in 1918.
