West Hull A.R.L.F.C. is a rugby league club. It's an amateur team from Kingston upon Hull, England. They play in the top division of the National Conference League. Their home games are at West Hull Community Park. The team's colours are green and gold.

Club History and Achievements

West Hull A.R.L.F.C. started in 1961. It was first called Birds Eye A.R.L.F.C. Most players worked at a local factory called Birds Eye. In 1971, the club changed its name to West Hull A.R.L.F.C. This happened after the British Amateur Rugby League Association (BARLA) was formed.

Early Victories

The club won its first big trophy in the 1973–74 season. They won the very first BARLA Yorkshire Cup. They beat a team called Illingworth in the final game.

In the 1976–77 season, they won the BARLA National Cup. They were playing under the name Cawoods then. They won 10–3 against National Dock Labour Board. This team is now known as Hull Dockers.

Beating Professional Teams

The next season, West Hull made history. They became the first amateur team since 1909 to beat a professional team. They won 9–8 against Halifax. This big win happened in the Players No. 6 Trophy.

Joining the National League

In 1986, West Hull was one of ten clubs. These clubs helped start the BARLA National Amateur League. This league is now called the National Conference League. West Hull won the National League championship for the first time in the 1988–89 season.

Dominating the Amateur Game

In 1996, West Hull had another amazing year. They reached the fifth round of the Challenge Cup. They were the first amateur club to beat two professional teams in one year.

They won 35–20 against Highfield in the third round. Then, they beat York 10–6 in the next round. This game was played in a snowstorm. After this, West Hull became very strong in amateur rugby. They won five National Conference League championships. These wins happened between 1997 and 2002.

Recent Seasons

In 2005, the club moved down from the top division. But they quickly bounced back! They returned to the top flight a year later. They finished the 2005–06 season as champions of Division One.
