West Ogwell Church is a very old church located in a place called Ogwell in Devon, England. It was built a long, long time ago, in the 1200s!
This church is super important because it's listed as a Grade I listed building. This means it's a special historic building that needs to be protected. Today, it's looked after by a group called the Churches Conservation Trust. This trust takes care of old churches that are no longer used for regular services. West Ogwell Church became part of their care in 1982.

How Old Is the Church Building?
The main parts of the church, like the chancel (the area near the altar) and the nave (where people sit), were built around the year 1300. Later, around 1400, a tall tower was added to the west side of the church. This tower has a cool top part with a battlemented parapet, which looks a bit like the top of a castle wall.
What Can You See Inside the Church?
Inside West Ogwell Church, you can find some really old and interesting features:
- A sedilia from the 1200s: This is a special set of seats, usually for priests, built into the wall of the chancel.
- A Jacobean pulpit: This is a raised stand where the preacher gives sermons. It was made during the Jacobean period (early 1600s).
- Other features: You'll also see old wooden box pews (where people sit), a screen near the tower, and curved communion rails. These parts were added later, in the late Georgian period (late 1700s to early 1800s).
