West Side, Lewis facts for kids
The West Side (called An Taobh Siar in Scottish Gaelic) is a special part of the Isle of Lewis. It's a group of villages found along the northwest coast of the island. Many people who live here speak Scottish Gaelic, a very old language.
This area stretches from a village called Dell in the north to Shawbost in the south.
What is the West Side?
The West Side is a beautiful coastal area on the Isle of Lewis. It's known for its strong connection to the Scottish Gaelic language and culture. This part of the island is about 25 kilometers (around 15 miles) long.
Getting Around the West Side
You can easily travel through the West Side using two main roads. These are the A857 and A858 roads. They connect all the villages and make it simple to explore the area.
