Westgate, New Zealand

Westgate is a fast-growing town in West Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand. It used to be called "Massey North" until 2013. From 1989 to 2010, it was part of Waitakere City. Now, the Auckland Council is working hard to make it even better.

Developing Westgate

A new town centre is being built in Westgate. It will be the main place for shops and businesses in this part of Auckland. The council is working with partners to create this new area.

New Community Spaces

The council is building a new community heart for Westgate. This includes a new library called Te Manawa. It is located near Te Pumanawa Square.

Shopping and Fun

The NorthWest Shopping Centre opened on 1 October 2015. It is also close to Te Pumanawa Square. Since October 2016, more restaurants, shops, and offices have opened around the square. This area will be great for walking and outdoor dining. There will also be many parks and walking paths.

First Costco in New Zealand

Westgate is also home to New Zealand's first Costco Wholesale store. It opened on 28 September 2022. This large store has a food court, a petrol station, a tyre centre, and an optometrist.

Westgate Lifestyle opened in 2017. It has 28 shops. You can find stores like Harvey Norman, Briscoes, Rebel Sport, and Freedom Furniture here. It has 622 parking spaces.
