The Story of Westmoor Park

Westmoor Park has a cool history! For a very long time, since the late 1600s, this land was owned by private families. But then, something special happened. In March 1973, the land was given to the town of West Hartford.

This generous gift came from Charles Hunter. He decided that after he passed away, the land should go to his wife, Leila, for her lifetime. Charles died in January 1961. When Leila passed away in January 1973, the town of West Hartford officially took over the park just two months later. Thanks to the Hunter family, Westmoor Park became a wonderful place for everyone to enjoy and learn from!
